D2W is a unique 3-day conference. All of the sessions will discuss workflow between designers and developers (and/or the applications they use), in addition to a few business-related sessions. There are 3 main tracks; designer, developer, and mobile. Intermingled in the tracks, are sessions geared towards the hybrid. Someone who is accomplished as both a designer and developer. Creating someone who is comfortable doing both, or at least being able to communicate between both worlds, is a big goal of D2W.
This year, D2W will be held on May 16-18, 2012 from 8 a.m. – 5 p.m. at the Marriott, on the Plaza, Kansas City, MO. We chose the Marriott on the Plaza as a new venue this year because it offers tons of extras to both attendees and the sponsors. May 16 is hands-on classes day. 8 total, 4 consecutive half day hands-on classes will be given.Attendees have the choice between the one-day hands on classes, the two days of session-based conference, or a combination of all three days.
O'Reilly Media spreads the knowledge of innovators through its books, online services, magazines, research, and conferences. Since 1978, O'Reilly has been a chronicler and catalyst of leading-edge development, homing in on the technology trends that really matter and galvanizing their adoption by amplifying "faint signals" from the alpha geeks who are creating the future. An active participant in the technology community, the company has a long history of advocacy, meme-making, and evangelism.
Publisher of the iconic "animal books" for software developers, creator of the first commercial website (GNN), organizer of the summit meeting that gave the open source software movement its name, and prime instigator of the DIY revolution through its Make magazine, O'Reilly continues to concoct new ways to connect people with the information they need. O'Reilly conferences and summits bring alpha geeks and forward-thinking business leaders together to shape the revolutionary ideas that spark new industries. Long the information source of choice for technologists, the company now also delivers the knowledge of expert early adopters to everyday computer users. Whether it's delivered in print, online, or in person, everything O'Reilly produces reflects the company's unshakeable belief in the power of information to spur innovation.
We created InVision because we felt strongly that for a prototype to effectively capture the attention of our stakeholders it had to have three things:
Beauty
It had to look just like the finished product. This allows clients, target end-users, and investors to focus on providing meaningful feedback early and often.
Interaction
It had to be "clickable". After all, a prototype is a storytelling tool. Letting users explore the app in real-time brings the narrative to life.
Context
It had to run inside a real browser. You want your stakeholders to "suspend their disbelief" long enough to think deeply about how the product fits into their business.
